Time to make predictions on who will be the first boot of the season, AKA a bunch of gross generalizations and anticipated stereotyping.

Staff Predictions

Andy

Last season was the first time I ever got one of these first boots right. And I did it with no other knowledge than photos. Since I did (marginally) more prep than that this season, I’m sure I’m doomed. Luckily, I didn’t put much more thought into these picks, but maybe that extra bit is too much? Anyway, while the nerd girl has had decent success of late (and has avoided the first boot fate), I feel like Kellyn will break that trend. She just doesn’t seem like a good fit in the tribe she finds herself in (which, of course, assumes I’m accurately assessing that tribe, which I’m almost assuredly not). For the other tribe, I feel like predicting Stephanie is the best odds pick.

John

Kellyn– Socially awkward might be cute and fun to viewers, but I don’t know that it’ll have the same appeal to nine strangers on an island.

Stephanie– Everything about Stephanie screams first boot. Especially the name.

Emma

Naviti: Desiree. This is pure cynicism, and I would be happy to be wrong.

Malolo: While both Stephanies seem like they could be in danger, I think the quirkiness and (relative) age of Stephanie Johnson will make her stand out too much if this group goes to tribal council first.

Matt

I’m going to say Angela on the purple tribe. First boots tend to be older women or people of color and there are very few older people at all this season so the one woman older than 34 is going to stick out like a sore thumb. The thing is she is probably going to be totally fine if not very good at the challenge aspect, but being that much older than most of the cast is going to make the social aspects very tough for her.

And because I love to hate on your faves, I’m predicting Laurel. Remember what I said about people of color? Remember what I said about women? Well Laurel fits those criteria and seems less likely to fit in on this tribe to me. Hope I’m wrong here though!

Malolo: This group seems pretty evenly matched, so I’ll say James gets booted for showing emotion. Must keep up that robot facade!
Naviti: Andrea [sic]. She is the oldest woman and Desi seems smart enough to avoid the first POC boot curse. Reverse the curse!
