I avoided posting standings last week just because I didn’t want the word penultimate getting bandied about.

Yam Yam was the third most popular choice for fantasy teams. He did end up with the most points in the league, but only barely. Truly a sparkly Sandra.

Recapping last week first, we had 1 reward point for Carson, Lauren, and Yam Yam, 4 immunity win points to Lauren, and 2 VTEP points to Carson, Carolyn, Heidi, and Yam Yam.

Immunity win: 4 points to Carson and Heidi.

Post-merge VTEP points: 2 points to Carson, Carolyn, Heidi and Yam Yam.

Final tribal council votes: 2 points to Heidi, 14 points to Yam Yam.

Pick-4 League

DesiSurvivor is this season’s winner, beating runner-up Mike Hirsch by just one point. I believe(?) DesiSurvivor has a Disqus account, and thus is eligible for next season’s Champions League. Mike Hirsch is as well, but for reasons we’ll get to later, he won’t be taking this spot. Ulong has to win eventually is our third-place finisher but, once again for reasons I will get to later, Ulong will not be taking that spot. And I think(?) maybe(?) Black Rock is a name with an associated Disqus account, so that person could be in next season’s Champions League. I really wish you guys would make this easier on me by just commenting frequently- I can’t be expected to have a good memory.

Anyway, the next highest ranked commenter (and I’m really stretching the definition of commenter here) is- hang on, I have to summon my best Borat voice here- my wife? As a longtime non-listener of our podcast, she was truly primed for greatness. When I informed her that she had made Champions League, she said, “I usually do well in your league, don’t I?” Reader, she does not.

For the final(?) guaranteed Champions League invite, there was a three-way in eighth place. Hot. Evil Regals, The Ladder, and Saturday Night Palsy (Hey, fuck that guy!) all tied. The tie-breaker in this scenario is that the team with the player that had the highest finish wins. Evil Regals did not have the season’s winner, while SNP and The Ladder do. But The Ladder has this season’s 3rd place finisher, while SNP only has the 4th place finisher. Ergo, The Ladder gets that final(?) Champions League invite. Congrats to all the automatic invitees. Rounding out the top 20, Mark finished in 12th, my dear bestie fransesqua finished in 14th, and PaiMei landed in 19th. Normally I’d only shout out the top 20, but occasionally I find people just beyond the first page of the standings that deserve recognition. And look at that, I finished in 26th, so shout out to me!

Shout out to me for never doubting Ainslee- I believed in you! And I also feel the need to point out that in the JV team league, the winner only barely edged out a team made up of two undrafted players. As a Heat fan, I was rooting for the team with the undrafted players, because it felt very familiar.
