Pick-4 League

The Big Baller Brand has moved into first place. This is probably because the Big Baller Brand has cheated by finding spoilers and getting to the top of our fantasy league standings as a way of promoting the brand.

In second place, we have a three-way tie: Icy Truth, Rogers Communist Manifesto, and Survivor Central would be our other Champions League invitees if the season ended yesterday. Unfortunately for them, it did not. Diego Armando is sitting pretty in sixth place with a fully intact team, just waiting to pounce on one of those top four spots. Matt and I are in 11th and 12th place, respectively, just a point apart. But we’re probably out of the running, right? Well, to figure out those odds we’d probably need to use some math. And I don’t have time to wade into percentages and historical data, but I’ll give you some quick rough estimates.

Champions and Outcasts Leagues

Well, shit. Even a dominant victory by Bright and Beautiful Light Devon probably couldn’t dethrone XL Pelican at this point, despite my repeated attempts to jinx that. He joins DrVanNostrand in next season’s Champions League, because although the good(?) doctor(?) lost a player this week his Costanza strategy has once again led to fantasy success. Corndogshuffle is all but eliminated from contention for next season’s league, and Mark will need Mike to outscore Chrissy by 14 points in the finale in order to return to Champions League. If Mark doesn’t finish in the top four, it’s possible that next season’s Champions League will have zero Purple Rock staffers in it. How the not-so-mighty have fallen. PurpleTally has about a 97% chance to return next season, and Jersey Luck’s odds are good as well- barring the aforementioned “Mike outscores Chrissy by 14+” scenario.

I guess I’m just not good at jinxing things. I’ve done my best- I’ve even gone so far as to cancel Outcasts League!- but it looks like Saturday Night Palsy will be winning this season. Despite notable challenges from me, Blurry Denzel, and Matt, it’s just Saturday Night Palsy’s league to win. I guess I’ll just go ahead and have the trophy engraved, since there’s just no way he could possibly lose. Ms. Sweaterfan still has Chrissy left, but she’s almost 30 points behind SNP’s juggernaut of a team. And there are just no other contenders. The only reason he should even bother checking the standings next week is to print them out and frame them. Congrats, SNP- you’re basically pitching a no-hitter right now. Just thought I’d let you know that.
